Best Snow Removal Companies in the Bitterroot Valley (2026)
HJ Property Care & Tree Service publishes this guide and lists itself first. Every other company here is a real business that we checked on its own website in November 2026. Nobody paid to be included, and the notes on each company stick to what that company says about itself.

Snow service in the Bitterroot is not the same job as snow service in town. Drives are longer, more of them are gravel, and a crew based in Hamilton may have a long way to reach a property above Stevensville on a bad morning. So the first question is not who has the biggest truck, but who actually works your end of the valley. The companies below are based in the Bitterroot or say they work there. They range from excavation outfits and lawn companies that plow in winter to a commercial specialist based in Missoula.
How did we choose these snow removal companies?
Each company here has a working website of its own that lists snow removal and either a Bitterroot base or Bitterroot towns. We recorded who each one serves, what it offers and where it works, as stated on its own site on 2 November 2026. We left out companies whose snow work we could not confirm on their own website, and a large number of template snow removal pages that showed no sign of a business behind them. We did not use ratings or prices.
A disclosure: HJ Property Care & Tree Service publishes this guide and lists itself first. Nobody paid to be included, and the notes on each company stick to what that company says about itself. After first place, the order is not a quality score. It starts with companies based in the valley and ends with one based outside it. This list is part of our Montana Winter Property Guide. If you are in or near town, see our separate list of the best snow removal companies in Missoula.
1. HJ Property Care & Tree Service (Florence)
This is our own company. We are based in Florence and plow on seasonal routes from Missoula through the Bitterroot Valley, for homes, commercial lots, and HOAs and managed properties, with private road plowing and 24-hour storm response. Accounts are set up before winter with an agreed trigger depth, a clearing order and a place for the snow to go, so you are cleared without having to call. We work in Florence, Stevensville, Victor, Corvallis, Hamilton and Darby. We are also a tree company, so a limb down across the drive is something we can deal with too.
Best for: owners who want one contractor for snow in winter and for the rest of the property the rest of the year, particularly on long drives and private roads. Worth knowing: we are building 2026 to 2027 routes now and space is limited; HJ was founded in 2024.
2. Two Brothers Lawn and Snow (Hamilton)
Two Brothers Lawn and Snow is a company that handles residential driveways and commercial lots, with driveway plowing and clearing, walkway and sidewalk snow removal, business entrance clearing and optional de-icing. It lists Hamilton, Darby, Corvallis, Victor, Stevensville and surrounding areas. The site says the business started in 2017 and cites roughly 25 years of experience.
Best for: south and mid-valley homes and businesses that want walks and de-icing along with the drive. Worth knowing: it also does lawn and landscape work, so it can be one contractor year-round.
3. Lawns Etc. (Hamilton)
Lawns Etc. says it has served the Bitterroot Valley since 1982 and offers plowing, shoveling, sanding or salting for homes and businesses. It says it runs multiple crews in all directions from its Hamilton base.
Best for: owners who want an established valley company with sanding and salting available. Worth knowing: its site lists its service area as Hamilton and surrounding areas, so ask if you are at the north end of the valley.
4. J & J Excavating & Trucking (Hamilton)
J & J Excavating & Trucking was established in 1987 and is family owned. It clears residential and commercial properties with heavy-duty snowplows, including lots for schools, strip malls, retail stores, grocery stores and places of worship, along with pathways and approaches. Its snow page names Corvallis and Stevensville and surrounding areas.
Best for: larger lots and approaches that suit heavier equipment. Worth knowing: excavation and trucking is the main line of work, and snow is one service alongside it.
5. 406 Lawnzz (Stevensville)
406 Lawnzz plows and shovels residential driveways and commercial lots, clears walkways, offers de-icing, and has seasonal contracts available. Its site lists Stevensville, Hamilton, Corvallis, Florence, Lolo and Victor, and its menu also names Darby, Missoula and Alberton.
Best for: north and mid-valley homes that want a seasonal contract. Worth knowing: the site also mentions HOA service plans across Ravalli County, though not specifically for snow, so ask.
6. Ivory Peaks Landscaping & Excavating (Stevensville)
Ivory Peaks Landscaping & Excavating is family owned and says it has served the Bitterroot Valley since 2021. Its snow service covers plowing and ice control, including driveway clearing, post-storm clearing and driveway de-icing, in Stevensville, Hamilton, Corvallis, Victor, Florence, Grantsdale and Pinesdale.
Best for: homeowners who want plowing and ice control from a landscape and excavation company. Worth knowing: its snow page is written mainly around driveways, so commercial sites should ask.
7. Eight Point Excavation (Corvallis)
Eight Point Excavation is a family-owned Corvallis company, with Marvin Newswanger as president, that cites 15 years of experience and describes itself as licensed and insured. Snow plowing is on its service list, alongside excavation work and hauling.
Best for: properties near Corvallis, especially if you already use the company for dirt work. Worth knowing: the site gives no detail on the snow service or a list of towns, so ask what it covers.
8. Bitterroot Turf & Tree (Hamilton)
Bitterroot Turf & Tree lists plowing, sidewalk clearing, ice melt and traction sand as its winter services, alongside its lawn work, and gives a Hamilton post office box.
Best for: properties near Hamilton that want walks and traction handled along with plowing. Worth knowing: the site does not list towns or say whether it takes residential or commercial accounts, so ask.
9. Mountain Made Lawn Care (Bitterroot Valley)
Mountain Made Lawn Care is a small, family-owned company offering lawn care and snow removal, and it describes itself as licensed and insured. Its snow service covers residential driveways and select commercial properties. It lists Corvallis, Hamilton, Victor, Stevensville, Darby and Missoula.
Best for: homes in the mid and south valley, including Darby. Worth knowing: the site does not say where the company is based or describe de-icing.
10. Pro Sweep Plus (Missoula, commercial)
Pro Sweep Plus has operated since 2001 and runs commercial snow and ice management around the clock: plowing and stacking on lots and roadways, liquid de-icing, granular ice melt and snow hauling, for customers such as hospitals, retail centers and office buildings. It says it services Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell and everywhere in between.
Best for: commercial sites in the valley that need de-icing and hauling. Worth knowing: its snow page is written for commercial sites, and it is based in Missoula.

What should you ask a Bitterroot snow company before signing?
Ask how it handles long drives and gravel, because a blade set for pavement scatters gravel into lawns and beds. Our guide to plowing a gravel driveway explains. Ask what depth triggers a visit, whether the berm from the road plow is included, and where the snow goes. Ask for proof of liability coverage and how it handles workers' compensation, as covered in insurance questions for a snow contractor. For a fuller comparison, read how to choose a snow removal company and what residential snow service includes.
How much snow does the Bitterroot actually get?
Less on the valley floor than many people assume, but it varies. The Western Regional Climate Center's long-term averages show about 26 inches a year at Hamilton (1895 to 2012) against about 45 at Missoula's airport station. That can make a seasonal contract look like more than you need in a light year and exactly right in a heavy one. Our guide to how much snow Missoula and the Bitterroot get has the monthly figures, and seasonal contract, per-push or hourly covers the choice.
When should you book snow removal in the Bitterroot?
September and October are ideal, while you can still walk the ground and mark what is under it. If it is already November, call anyway, and ask what room is left on the route near you. To get on our 2026 to 2027 route, call (406) 215-7319 or request a free estimate.
