Commercial Holiday Lighting

New for the 2026 season

For a business, holiday lighting is not decoration so much as a signal that the place is open, looked after, and part of the street it sits on. For an HOA it is the entrance every resident drives past twice a day through the darkest weeks of the year. In both cases somebody has to put the lights up before the weather turns and take them down in January, and that job tends to land on whoever is least able to spare the time.

This year HJ Property Care & Tree Service LLC is adding holiday light installation to our winter services, and storefronts, office entrances, and HOA and subdivision entrances are part of what we are planning. We install, and we come back and take it down. The crew is licensed and insured and already works at height and in trees every week.

Packages and pricing for 2026 are still being finalized, so for now this is an interest list, with no obligation. Commercial and community displays need more lead time than a house does, which is the reason to raise your hand early.

What we are planning for commercial properties

Final packages are still being shaped. Tell us which of these matter to you:

  • Storefront rooflines, parapets, and entrances
  • Office and multi-tenant building entries
  • HOA and subdivision entrance signs and monuments
  • Trees and shrubs along frontages and in common areas
  • A walkthrough to agree what gets lit before anything goes up
  • Installation scheduled around your opening hours
  • Takedown after the holidays

What is different about a commercial display

A commercial display is seen from farther away and by far more people than a house, so it is planned from the street and the parking lot, not from the front step. A few clean lines along a roofline and a well-lit entrance usually do more for a building than lights on everything, and they are easier to keep working through the season.

The practical questions come first. Where is the outdoor power, and is it on a circuit that can carry the display? Does the building owner or the HOA board need to approve attachments, and who signs off on the layout? Is there a sign, an awning, or a tenant's frontage that has to stay clear? We go through these on a walkthrough so the plan is something that can be approved once, in writing.

Timing is the other difference. Work on a storefront or a shared entrance has to fit around customers, deliveries, and residents, so installation is scheduled for hours when a lift or ladders at the front door are not in anyone's way.

Installed for a Montana winter

Lights go up on clips made for the purpose, not on nails, screws, or staples that leave holes in fascia, flashing, or siding for meltwater to find. Cords and connections are kept up out of snow, and off the walking surfaces and plow paths where they would be a trip hazard or get cut.

That last point is where it helps to have one contractor. If we are also clearing your lot or your private road, the people hanging the lights know where the snow gets pushed and piled, and the display is laid out to stay clear of it. See commercial snow removal for how those accounts work.

Trees along a frontage get the same care our arborist crew gives any tree: lights are attached so they do not cut into bark or load branches that will also be carrying snow, and they come off after the season instead of being left to grow in.

How the interest list works

Joining the list tells us what kind of property you have and roughly what you would like lit. It does not commit you to anything. When packages and install dates are set, the list hears first, and commercial and community properties are contacted early because their approvals take longer.

If we already look after your grounds, mention it. Lining the lighting up with commercial grounds maintenance or a snow contract already in place is the easiest way to fit it into the season.

For a home, see Christmas light installation. For permanent, year-round low-voltage lighting on a commercial property, see landscape lighting, which is a separate installation.

Commercial Holiday Lighting questions

Common questions about our commercial holiday lighting in Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley.

Yes, that is part of what we are planning for the 2026 season: storefronts, office entrances, and multi-tenant buildings. We are taking interest now while packages are finalized.

Yes. Entrance signs, monuments, and the trees and shrubs around them are a good fit. Boards usually need time to approve a plan, so it helps to get in touch early.

Pricing for 2026 has not been set yet, so we are not publishing numbers. Cost will depend mainly on how much is lit, how high it is, access, and whether takedown is included. Join the interest list and we will send details as soon as they are ready.

As early as possible. The best time to install is before the roof and ground freeze, and commercial and community displays need extra time for approvals and scheduling around business hours.

Yes. Takedown after the holidays is part of the service we are building, so nobody on your staff is on a ladder in January.

Storage between seasons is something we are looking at offering and have not committed to yet. If it would matter to you, say so when you get in touch.

Yes. We clear commercial lots, HOA roads, and sidewalks through the winter, and having one contractor for both means the lighting is laid out clear of where snow is plowed and piled.
